Will you tell me about my dreams when you wake up? Little mind with little eyes shaded by sleep and long blonde spires? Your body a pale egg in an empty nest? Paler, paler still.
Will you tell me about their dreams when I wake up? A garden snake on freckled fingers? Tap the glass like a windowpane? Little birds on long hot wires.
Will you tell me when I need to wake up? Pick the cotton from my eyes? Lick my lips because they’re dry? I’ll keep watch while we sleep tonight.
